Create or edit a role
This dialog lets you define a workspace role (name + set of permissions). In create mode, the title is Create a role; when editing an existing role, it is Modify role.

Prerequisites
- You must be signed in to Sequentia.
- You need access to the Workspace page.
- You need permission to edit user permissions: without it, the role editor (and therefore the Manage roles chip) does not appear in the invite or member dialogs.
- Open the User Roles Manager first, then this dialog (create or edit).
Open the dialog
Main path
- Open a dialog that shows the role editor, for example:
- Add a member (permissions step), or
- See the workspace access (a member’s card).
- Click the Manage roles chip.
- In the User Roles Manager:
- Create a new role → opens this dialog in create mode;
- pencil icon on an existing role → opens this dialog in edit mode (name and permissions prefilled).

tip
Changes to a role that is already assigned are applied to members who use that role (their permissions are updated automatically when the role is saved).
Fill in the form
Role name
- Label: Role name.
- Field placeholder: Name.
- Required to enable Confirm (the button stays disabled if the name is empty).

Permissions
- Section label: Permissions.
- List shown as accordions by area:
| Accordion | Contents (summary) |
|---|---|
| Workspace | Manage the workspace, view the audit trail, edit user permissions, edit a user, invite a user, remove a user, manage documentation, manage / view billing, manage integrations |
| Ticket module | Create / edit / reorder / archive tickets, create / edit / archive boards, manage templates and board visibility, manage / archive procedures |
| Maintenance module | Manage / archive equipment — shown only if the Maintenance module is enabled |
| Work documents | Manage / archive work documents |
| Contact module | Manage / archive clients |
| Billing module | Manage / archive invoices and quotes — if the Billing module is enabled |
| Time module | View / manage timesheets — shown when the Billing module is enabled |
| Chatroom module | Create / join chatrooms |
| Inventory module | Manage / archive inventories, items, suppliers, manufacturers; order, transfer, deliver, request items |
Select at least one permission: otherwise Confirm stays disabled.

Confirm or close
| Action | Effect |
|---|---|
| Confirm | Closes the dialog and returns the name + permissions list to the roles manager, which saves the role in the workspace |
| Close (X) | Closes without saving |
| Help (?) | Opens contextual help for this dialog |
After a successful create from the roles manager: message Role created successfully.
After a successful update from the roles manager: message Role updated successfully.

What this dialog does not do
- Assign the role to a member: done in Add a member or See the workspace access.
- Delete a role: available in the User Roles Manager (not in this dialog).
- Edit a user’s profile (name, email, etc.).
In-app help
In the dialog header, the help icon opens contextual help. Help title: Help - Create or edit a role.
To confirm with product
- The name field requires at least 2 characters in the interface, but Confirm only checks “name not empty” and “at least one permission”. Confirm whether a one-character name should be rejected.
- In the Inventory list, some permission labels may appear in technical form rather than as translated labels, unlike other modules. Confirm the intended product labels.
- The Time module accordion depends on the Billing module being enabled, not a separate Time module. Confirm whether that is intended.
- Some permissions may appear with their technical identifier rather than a translated label. Confirm label coverage.
- The Manage roles chip is the only direct access to this dialog in the current interface. Confirm that no other access is planned.
