Create or edit a role

This dialog lets you define a workspace role (name + set of permissions). In create mode, the title is Create a role; when editing an existing role, it is Modify role.

Create a role dialog

Prerequisites

  • You must be signed in to Sequentia.
  • You need access to the Workspace page.
  • You need permission to edit user permissions: without it, the role editor (and therefore the Manage roles chip) does not appear in the invite or member dialogs.
  • Open the User Roles Manager first, then this dialog (create or edit).

Open the dialog

Main path

  1. Open a dialog that shows the role editor, for example:
    • Add a member (permissions step), or
    • See the workspace access (a member’s card).
  2. Click the Manage roles chip.
  3. In the User Roles Manager:
    • Create a new role → opens this dialog in create mode;
    • pencil icon on an existing role → opens this dialog in edit mode (name and permissions prefilled).

Access via Manage roles

tip

Changes to a role that is already assigned are applied to members who use that role (their permissions are updated automatically when the role is saved).

What this dialog does not do

  • Assign the role to a member: done in Add a member or See the workspace access.
  • Delete a role: available in the User Roles Manager (not in this dialog).
  • Edit a user’s profile (name, email, etc.).

In-app help

In the dialog header, the help icon opens contextual help. Help title: Help - Create or edit a role.

To confirm with product

  • The name field requires at least 2 characters in the interface, but Confirm only checks “name not empty” and “at least one permission”. Confirm whether a one-character name should be rejected.
  • In the Inventory list, some permission labels may appear in technical form rather than as translated labels, unlike other modules. Confirm the intended product labels.
  • The Time module accordion depends on the Billing module being enabled, not a separate Time module. Confirm whether that is intended.
  • Some permissions may appear with their technical identifier rather than a translated label. Confirm label coverage.
  • The Manage roles chip is the only direct access to this dialog in the current interface. Confirm that no other access is planned.
