Add a member
This dialog lets you invite someone to join your workspace: choose which boards they can access, assign a role or permissions, then send an email or copy a shareable link.

Prerequisites
- You must be signed in to Sequentia.
- You need access to the Workspace page.
- You need permission to invite a user. Without it, the invite button is disabled.
- To choose or customize the role on step 2: you also need permission to edit user permissions.
- At least one board must be selected before you can continue.
- If the workspace reaches the free-plan seat limit (billable seats + pending invitations), a paid-plan offer may open instead of the invitation dialog.
Open the dialog
- Open the Workspace page.
- In the Invitations section, click Invite a user.
- The Add a member to … dialog opens (the workspace name appears in the title).

If your workspace already has the maximum included seats without an active paid subscription, the click opens a seat-limit offer first instead of the invitation dialog.
Three-step flow
A progress bar shows the current step. Use the footer arrows for previous / next.
Step 1 — Boards
- Label: Boards.
- Check the boards the new member will be able to access.
- All: selects or clears every listed board.
- Add a board: creates a new board and adds it to the selection.
You cannot move to the next step if no board is selected (next button disabled; message No board selected if validation runs).

Step 2 — Role and permissions
If you have permission to edit user permissions, this step shows the role editor:
- Label: Select permissions.
- List of workspace roles, plus the Custom option.
- For a preset role: permissions are read-only; a message explains to use Manage roles or Custom to change them.
- Manage roles chip: opens the workspace role manager.
- Custom: lets you toggle permissions one by one.
By default, the admin role is preselected.

Without permission to edit user permissions, this step may appear empty in the interface. The invitation then uses the default role (admin). See To confirm with product.
Step 3 — Invitation method and message
Invitation method
- Label: Invitation method.
- Email: invitation sent to an address.
- Shared link: creates a link to copy (no email address required).
If method is Email
- Email field (required) — placeholder: “Enter the email of the member”.
- Checks shown in the interface:
- empty email → Email is required;
- invalid format → Invalid email;
- already a member → This user is already a member of this workspace;
- already invited → This user is already invited to this workspace.
Message and language
- Message area (free text) — placeholder: “Write a message to the member”.
- FR / EN selector: language of the invitation email.
- Note shown: “Note that the email will be sent in the language you selected”.
- A default message (French or English) is prefilled with your display name.
- If you switch language after editing the message, a confirmation asks to reset message (“Are you sure you want to reset the message to the default one?”).

Send or copy, then close
| Action | Effect |
|---|---|
| Send invitation (Email method) | Creates the invitation, sends the email, closes the dialog, success message Invitation sent to … |
| Copy link (link method) | Creates the invitation, copies the link to the clipboard, message Link copied to clipboard |
| Previous arrow | Goes back one step |
| Next arrow | Advances one step (when validation allows) |
| Close (X) | Closes without sending |
| Help (?) | Opens contextual help for this dialog |
While sending, a loading indicator is shown and the action button is disabled.
On send failure: alert Error / “An error occurred while sending the invitation”.
If the seat limit is hit at confirmation time, the dialog closes and the seat offer opens.

What this dialog does not do
- Accept an invitation: that happens through the received link (dedicated invitation page).
- Edit or cancel an existing invitation: available in the Invitations list on the Workspace page.
- Remove a member already in the workspace: Members section on the same page.
- Configure billing for the workspace: elsewhere on the page (subscription / seats).
In-app help
In the dialog header, the help icon opens contextual help. Help title: Help - Add a member.
To confirm with product
- Without permission to edit user permissions, the permissions step is hidden (empty grid) while the flow stays three steps and still sends the default admin role. Confirm the intended behavior (hide the step, force a limited role, etc.).
- After a successful send, the dialog closes and the invitations list may not refresh immediately. Confirm whether an automatic list refresh is desired.
- A Generate shareable link label exists in translations, but the button shown uses Copy link. Confirm the final product label.
- The English segment label is Shared link while French says Envoyer un lien. Confirm linguistic alignment.
