Create a ticket

This dialog is used to create a new ticket on a board: title, status, priority, assignee, watchers, description, attachments, and optionally estimated duration, equipment, procedure, or location.

info

This help applies to the New ticket dialog, most often opened from a board, not from the favorite tickets page.

New ticket dialog

Prerequisites

  • Signed in to Sequentia (normal account or, on a public board, guest / anonymous per board settings).
  • A workspace must be selected.
  • Open a board where you can create tickets.
  • Permission to create a ticket, or (public board) the board allows visitors to create tickets.
    • Without create rights: Insufficient roles alert / “You do not have the necessary rights to create a ticket”.
    • On the board, the add button may be hidden for guests / anonymous if that option is not granted.

Open the dialog

The New ticket dialog opens most often from a board, depending on the active view:

ViewTypical access
Columns (kanban)+ / Ticket button in a status column header
ListCreate a ticket button
By userAdd action in a user column (prefills assignment)
MapClick on the map (if creation allowed): clicked location is prefilled

Other screens reuse the same dialog, for example:

  • a ticket creation shortcut (template);
  • a work document (linked ticket creation);
  • other business flows that launch ticket creation.

Access from board columns view

note

The Favorite tickets page lists favorited tickets. Its empty state does not open this creation dialog (the add button is intentionally hidden there).

Dialog content

  • Title shown: New ticket.
  • Status selector (toolbar color = chosen status color). Initial status depends on where you clicked (column, first board status, etc.).
  • Help (?) icon: opens help for this dialog.
  • Close (X) icon: closes without saving.
  • The dialog does not close when clicking outside.

Conditional sections

  • Equipment (maintenance module): choose or remove equipment. Same selection as the “Choose equipment” dialog.
  • Procedure: if allowed, link / create a procedure on the ticket. A bullet list in the description can also be converted to a procedure (Convert to procedure), if no procedure is already linked.
  • Location: if the board has map view, location section (prefilled from map or linked document, depending on flow).

Inventory items and calendar event are handled in this dialog only after ticket creation (sections absent or actions disabled in create mode).

Equipment or procedure section filled

Confirm or close

ActionEffect
Create ticketValidates title, uploads attachments if needed, saves linked procedure if any, then creates the ticket. Success message like Ticket [no.] added. Ticket then opens (unless flow disables opening).
Close (X) iconCloses without creating.
Help (?) iconOpens contextual help.

If the title is too short, creation is blocked and focus returns to the title field (no dedicated message).

Dialog footer — Create ticket

Defaults on open

Unless prefilled by another screen (template, document, map, etc.):

  • Priority: normal
  • Assigned to: signed-in user
  • Watchers: signed-in user (possibly + assignee)
  • Status: from entry point (clicked column, first status, etc.)
  • Title / description: empty

What this dialog does not do

  • Edit an existing ticket: see Ticket profile.
  • Add the ticket to favorites: from the ticket profile header, after creation.
  • Manage items / work document / event: after creation (chips disabled here).
  • Create a ticket from the Favorite tickets page: no create button on that screen.

In-app help

In the dialog header, the help icon opens help for Create a ticket.

To confirm with product

  • “Invalid description…” messages exist in translations, but no description length validation runs on confirm. Confirm whether description should be required or have a minimum length.
  • On a board, the add button may show for a member without checking permission first; refusal happens only on open (alert). Confirm whether the button should be hidden when create permission is missing.
  • When opening from a template, a prefilled description may be passed: confirm expected behavior if it does not appear.
  • Several translation labels (e.g. project, cancel, remove) no longer seem used in the current UI. Confirm cleanup or off-dialog usage.
