View a document
This full-screen dialog shows a Sequentia document and its toolbar: zoomable preview, download, edit / save, archive, and actions specific to the document type.
The same dialog serves several types: quote, invoice, timesheet, purchase order, and quote request.

Prerequisites
- Signed in to Sequentia.
- A workspace must be selected.
- Open an existing document from the matching page or flow (the dialog itself does not list documents).
Access depends on entry point:
| Type | Typical opening | Permission / module often required upstream |
|---|---|---|
| Quote | Quotes page | Permission to manage quotes |
| Invoice | Invoices page | Permission to manage invoices |
| Timesheet | Timesheets page | Times module / page (per workspace config) |
| Purchase order | Inventory / purchase orders | To confirm with product (inventory permissions) |
| Quote request | Inventory / quote requests | To confirm with product |
In preview mode, the side toolbar is hidden and zoom does not appear in the header. This mode is used notably when previewing an invoice before saving.
Open the dialog
By type:
- Go to the page listing the document (Quotes, Invoices, Timesheets, inventory, etc.).
- Click the document to open it.
- View a document dialog shows with adapted title and number.

After creating an invoice from a timesheet open in this dialog, the timesheet closes and the new invoice opens automatically.
Header
| Element | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Title | By type: Quote, Invoice, Purchase order, Quote requests, or Timesheet. For quote / invoice / PO: #… number (and revision -n if present). |
| Status chip | Shown for quote, invoice, and purchase order (except preview and except timesheet). Color and label by status. |
| Zoom − / % / + | Outside preview. Middle percentage resets auto zoom. Range about 50%–200%, steps of 25%. |
| Help | Help circle icon → contextual help. |
| Close | Closes dialog (see Leave). |
| Chevron (mobile) | On narrow screens (< 992 px), outside preview and outside timesheet: opens / closes Actions panel. |

On first display, zoom adjusts automatically so the document fits available width better (different on mobile: reduced zoom to allow horizontal scroll).
Quote requests — supplier tabs
If several requests from the same group are open, a segment under the header lists supplier names.
:::caution To confirm with product The segment shows the current request, but it is unclear whether clicking another supplier actually switches the display. Exact behavior to validate with product. :::
Toolbar (side panel or mobile Actions)
On large screens, tools are on the left. On mobile, use header chevron to open Actions.
View mode (not editing, not preview)
General section:
| Action | Label | Available if |
|---|---|---|
| Details | Quote details / Invoice details / Purchase order details | Quote, invoice, or purchase order. Opens details dialog (information + change log). |
| Client comment | Client comment | Quote only, if client comment present (display, not a button). |
| Download | Download | Document not hidden by display rules (see below). |
| Archive | Archive | Not for timesheet; disabled if document cannot be archived. |
Archive rules:
- Invoice or quote: not possible if already archived, or if status is sent.
- Purchase order or quote request: possible while not archived.
- After successful archive, dialog closes.
For timesheet, Download opens a menu: PDF, CSV, XLSX. For other types, single PDF download.

Linked work document
For a quote or invoice, a section uses the configured work document label in the workspace. Click opens linked work document if it could be loaded.
Actions by type
Dedicated tools add to the panel:
| Type | Example actions visible in panel |
|---|---|
| Quote | Edit, Send, Revert to draft, line management in edit mode, etc. (requires client loaded). |
| Invoice | Edit (draft), Send, Revert to draft, etc. |
| Purchase order | Edit, send / statuses, create a receipt, etc. |
| Quote request | Quote request tools (edit, send, etc.). |
| Timesheet | Create invoice(s); Edit. |
On mobile, Actions panel for a timesheet exposes only Edit (not desktop create-invoice button). Confirm with product if intentional.
Creating a receipt from a purchase order: document dialog closes, navigation to Receipts, then open prefilled receipt with purchase order.
Edit mode
When you switch to edit (via Edit or type equivalent):
| Action | Label | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cancel | Cancel | Restores document as at open. Disabled while reorder / group lines in progress. |
| Save | Save | Saves by type (quote, invoice, PO, quote request) or emits change for timesheet. Same reorder constraint. |
| File language | FR / EN | Changes displayed / generated file language. |
Messages if reorder or grouping still active:
- Please finish your reorder or grouping actions before canceling.
- Please finish your reorder or grouping actions before saving.

Center area — preview
Dialog body shows document rendering by type. In edit mode, document fields become editable in this area.

Leave and unsaved changes
If you close while edit changes are unsaved, an alert shows:
- Title: You have unsaved changes
- Message: You have unsaved changes. Are you sure you want to leave without saving?
- Stay: remain in dialog.
- Discard: restore original version, may resync document, then close.
Without unsaved changes, close is immediate.
Tool visibility
General tools (download, archive, etc.) show when:
- type is timesheet or quote request, or
- type is quote / invoice / purchase order and document is not archived.
Already archived documents (quote, invoice, PO) therefore no longer show this general action bar.
In-app help
In the dialog header, the help icon opens help for View a document.
To confirm with product
- Exact permissions to open purchase order or quote request.
- Supplier segment behavior on grouped quote requests (real switch or display only).
- Missing Create invoice(s) button in mobile Actions panel for timesheet.
- Detailed tools by type (send, statuses, line grouping, etc.): documented here at shell level; dedicated help per business flow recommended.
