Add or edit a client

This dialog lets you create a client profile or edit an existing one: company name, rates, payment terms, client code, address, and contacts.

info

The title shown is Add a Client when creating, and Edit Client when editing. Contextual help for the dialog covers both cases.

Add a Client dialog

Prerequisites

  • You must be signed in to Sequentia.
  • A workspace must be selected.
  • You need permission to manage clients to open the dialog (create or edit). Without it:
    • the add button does not appear on the Clients page;
    • an add attempt shows alert Insufficient Role / “You do not have the necessary permissions to add a client.”;
    • an edit attempt shows the same header with “You do not have the necessary permissions to modify a client.”.
  • To archive or restore a client (edit mode only): permission to archive a client. Without it, the archive icon is hidden.

Open the dialog

Create a client

  1. Open the Clients page.
  2. On the Active segment, click Add a client (list row or empty state).
  3. The Add a Client dialog opens.

Access from the Clients page

You can also create a client from the client picker elsewhere in the app: Add a Client opens the same dialog; after confirmation, the new client is selected automatically.

Edit a client

  1. On the Clients page, click a profile (active or archived).
  2. The Edit Client dialog opens with the existing data.
tip

From some billing screens, the dialog may open already focused on the address or contacts section (highlighted).

  • To save a contact: at least one of first name, last name, email, phone, or title must be filled (otherwise first name is marked invalid and save is blocked).

Dialog footer — Add the Client

Archived client

On an archived profile:

  • A banner states: “You cannot interact with this client because they are archived.”
  • Fields and address / contact actions are read-only.
  • Archive / restore remains available via the header icon if you have permission to archive a client.

Archived client read-only

What this dialog does not do

  • Search or filter the client list: Clients page (Active / Archived segments, search bar).
  • Enter a legal name separate from the company name: the field is not shown in this dialog (see To confirm with product).
  • Configure client payment methods: not exposed in this interface.
  • Manage related billing or tickets: other modules (invoices, quotes, etc.).

In-app help

In the dialog header, the help icon opens contextual help Add or edit a client, linked to the Clients page.

To confirm with product

  • The client model includes a legal name and a payment method, but no matching fields appear in this dialog. Confirm whether they should be editable here, elsewhere, or only via import.
  • On create, an empty contact form opens automatically; confirmation validates that contact (at least one field filled). Confirm whether saving a client without a contact should be allowed.
  • After archive or restore via the icon, the success message shown is the archive message (“Client successfully archived!”), including on restore. Confirm the expected restore message.
  • The archive-undo message uses the client’s legal name (often empty if never entered). Confirm whether company name should be used instead.
  • Without permission to archive, the interface simply hides the button with no alert. Confirm the intended behavior.
